Danica (Dani) Irvine

Director, Standards of Conduct (Acting)

Danica (Dani) Irvine  was appointed as Acting Director of the Department of Defense (DoD) Standards of Conduct Office (SOCO) in November 2024. As the Alternate Designated Agency Ethics Official, she is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the Department’s program to comply with Federal ethics laws and regulations. Ms. Irvine advises the Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of Defense, and other senior officials on the full spectrum of ethics issues and manages the ethics vetting of over 60 Presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed civilian officials in DoD.  She provides leadership and guidance to ensure consistent policy across the Department’s 17 Designated Agency Ethics Officials, including the Military Departments, Defense Agencies, and DoD Field Activities, overseeing more than 3,000 ethics counselors worldwide.  Ms. Irvine also serves as the DoD Ethics and Financial Disclosure Program Manager, managing the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) ethics and compliance reporting programs and financial disclosure programs and working with ethics officials throughout DoD to develop and disseminate ethics policy.  Ms. Irvine has previously served as Senior Counsel for Acquisition & Ethics for Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Energy and Ethics Program Manager for the Army Office of General Counsel.  Prior to her Federal career, Ms. Irvine was the General Counsel for the Tennessee Real Estate Commission and worked in private practice as outside corporate and commercial litigation counsel.
